Lazar Gadaev. Sculpture

Lazar Gadaev (1938-2008) is one of the most interesting and original modern sculptors with a highly individual sculptural style.
The artistʼs originality is rooted in the nature and culture, ancient legends and poetry of his native Ossetia. «We should look at the sculptures of Lazar Gadaev with the help of our fingers – like a blind» - says famous Russian animator Yuri Norstein.
Gadaev’s sculptures made of stone, wood, ceramics, bronze are in the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, the North Ossetian republic Art Museum, Peter Ludwig Museum in Cologne, private collections in Russia, the USA, Germany and France. His monumental compositions adorn the parks of Yerevan, Seoul, Vladikavkaz, Hoersverde (Germany). Among his latest works - the monument of Osip Mandelstam, established in Voronezh in autumn 2008, shortly before his death.

The exhibition will become the part of the main program of the Festival. It will open June 8, 2012 in the Exhibition Hall of Union of Artists, Kirova Street.
International Platonov Festival thanks sculptor's son Konstantin Gadaev for his help in organizing Festival exhibition.
