Story about Love

In the play «The River Potudan» we can clearly read main Platonov’s plot. Platonov writes about death, he peers into the process of dying, whether it’s a necrosis of the revolutionary utopia or a reduction of a happy life or - as in «Potudan» - transformation of sense.

The newspaper «Vremya Kultury»:

Love is more than the body: Platonov sees an intolerable torment in it, Vladimir Petrov - an opportunity to start talking about the beautiful people and the nobility of soul. The main heroes have tenderness and shame like the children, the director demonstrates his formula of love – to tolerate and believe.

We see a very simple story, almost fairy-tale about the good people who warm each other and overcome all the difficulties.

Vladimir Petrov is the Winner of The Golden Mask Award (1997), Honored Artist of Russia.

He has staged over 80 performances. In 1997 his "Woman in the Dunes" by Kobo Abe's novel was awarded by three Golden Mask Awards. In 2010 Vladimir Petrov has become the artistic director of the Voronezh Drama Theatre.
