A new project of Platonov Arts Festival is creating Voronezh Festival Orchestra. The idea is to gather on one stage the best musicians of Voronezh musical ensembles together with the alumni of Voronezh music institutions successfully working in the leading orchestras of Russia. This will show how deep and serious the traditions of music education and life in Voronezh are.
The orchestra will be headed by the most famous of contemporary Voronezh musicians – artistic director of Voronezh Academic Symphony Orchestra, Honoured Artist Vladimir Verbitsky.
The orchestra will include musicians from Voronezh Academic Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Voronezh Concert Hall, Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theatre Orchestra, as well as musicians working in such ensembles as the Bolshoi Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Orchestra, State Symphony Orchestra “Novaya Rossiya”, Academic Symphony Orchestra of Moscow State Philharmonic Society, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, State Symphony Capella of Russia, Russian National Orchestra, Orchestra of the Novaya Opera Theatre, St Petersburg Academic Orchestra Ensemble delle arti, “Fonograf-Sympho-Jazz” Orchestra, Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of Russia and Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
The orchestra will perform a majestic and rarely played piece by Arnold Sсhoenberg – “Gurre-Lieder” written in 1900 – in the 1911 orchestration. Besides the orchestra itself, this large-scale vocal-symphonic work also engages soloists and the choir. The soloists and the choir of Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theatre, as well as other choir ensembles and musicians, will be invited to perform this piece.
This great ambitious project will close the 9th Platonov Arts Festival.
