The Second International Platonov Arts Festival involved more than 25,000 people and presented Voronezh as a friendly and cultural city.
This and many other issues were discussed at the final press conference of the Head of the Festival Mikhail Bychkov. The program of the Festival included so many events that it was really hard to control everything. But the performers, staff of the festival directorate did not disappoint, and all mostly went well.
Nearly all the concerts and performances of the festival took place at one hundred percent occupancy rooms.
The Festival Night was one of the most popular and attended events. The concert of Brainstorm and Kakkmaddafakka gathered at the Admiralteyskaya square more than ten thousand people. More than five hundred people attended that night the exhibition in the Art museum named after Kramskoy. And big crowds were gathering at the concerts in Koltsovsky square.
As it was the past year, the concert of classical music at the park of the castle in Ramon had become a bright event. Probably, next year there can be shown three different programs.
Mikhail Bychkov told about the success of the relay-reading of Andrey Platonov's "The Innermost Man" on Lenin Square.
An important event of the Festival was the arrival of the Polski Theatre from Wroclaw with the play "A Piece on Mother and the Fatherland".
- This is a European level of organization, - said Mikhail Bychkov. - And this experience was very useful for us.
Special thanks were announced to the Directorate of the Golden Mask Festival. The performances of this project ("Life and Fate" Maly Drama Theatre staged by Lev Dodin, "Uncle Vanya" by Vakhtangov Theatre directed by Rimas Tuminas) were warmly welcomed by the public and became the dominant events of the festival.
There is no doubt that Festival Book Fair had become a successful and major cultural event that was held in the first three days of the Festival. Bychkov thanked the partner of the festival – The Book Club "Petrovsky" who helped to organize the Fair.
Bychkov told about the idea to produce the opera by Gleb Sidelnikov «Ilyich’s light bulb» («Homeland of Electricity») based on the works of Andrey Platonov for the Third Platonov Festival. This project can be put into practice together with the Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The Festival was attended by well-known theatre critics - Marina Dmitrevskaya, Grigory Zaslavsky, Alexander Vislov and Marina Davydova.
In general, the Head of the Festival was pleased with the results. Citizens of Voronezh had a chance to see the samples of the world art, and the world has strengthened the opinion that the Voronezh is an intelligent, friendly and open city.
