The famous Russian director Lev Dodin has become the laureate of Platonov Prize 2012!

On May 15 the final meeting of the award council of Platonov Award for literature and art chaired by the governor Alexey Gordeev was held in the government of the Voronezh region. 

In January 2012 at the previous meeting the list of six nominees from all areas of the festival was drawn up. It includes two theatre figures, two musicians, a writer and a nominee of the fine arts.

On May 15 the famous Russian director, People's Artist of Russia, multiple winner of "Golden Mask" and "Gold Soffit, winner of the Union of theatres of Europe Prize - "Europe to the theatre", artistic director of the Maly Drama Theatre - Theatre of Europe (St. Petersburg), Lev Dodin became the laureate as a result of decision of the award council. The award was given for the preservation of the traditions of Russian repertory theatre and outstanding performances in recent years.

The solemn award ceremony will be held in the framework of Platonov Arts Festival during the show of the performance of the Maly Drama Theatre "Life and Fate" on the stage of Voronezh Drama Theatre named after A. Koltsov on June 8 2012.
