“Platonov Award in Literature and Art” has defined six nominees


On January 27 the Governor of the Voronezh region Alexey Gordeev held the first meeting of the “Platonov Award in Literature and Art” Council.

Among those who took part in the meeting were the writer Alexey Varlamov, choreographer Vladimir Vasiliev, theatre critic Alexander Vislov, secretary of the Composers Union of Russia Yevgeny Trembovelsky, director of the magazine «Podjom» Ivan Shchelokov, editor in chief of “Kommuna” Victor Rudenko and the Head of the Platonov festival Mikhail Bychkov.  The literary critic, professor, head of the Platonov group in the Institute of World Literature Natalia Kornienko has become the new member of the Council. She was the head of the Platonov readings at the first festival that gathered scientists from Belarus, Great Britain, Germany and Poland.

The Council proposed their candidates for the Platonov Award 2012. The list of nominees includes representatives from all spheres of the festival: one writer, two theatrical figures, two musicians and the nominee of the fine arts. The laureate will be determined at the next meeting, and the award ceremony will be held in Voronezh within the period of Platonov festival. The first laureate of the Platonov Award is the writer Boris Ekimov.

Before the meeting the Council members visited exhibitions "Andrey Platonov" and "Osip Mandelstam in Voronezh" at the Literary Museum named after Nikitin, and in the evening they watched the Chamber Theatre premiere - "Fools on the periphery" by Andrey Platonov.
