Vladimir Verbitsky about the second Platonov festival

Vladimir Verbitsky - People's Artist of Russia, the conductor of the Voronezh Academic Symphony Orchestra. The International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England included Maestro Vladimir Verbitsky to a number of Outstanding Musicians of the 20th Century. In June 2011 at the first Platonov festival the Voronezh Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Verbitsky has performed works by Bach and Brahms with the famous violinist Viktor Tretyakov. And in June 2012 at the second festival the orchestra will perform with an outstanding violinist Sergei Krylov (Italy).

Vladimir Verbitsky shared his opinion about the program of the second Platonov festival.

- Platonov festival is a really unique phenomenon in Russia.
It is held in Voronezh, but its idea and program go far beyond the borders of the country – on the international level.

It’s a great pleasure for me to participate in the festival. I think that the organizers chose the artists very accurately. In my opinion all the artists of the music program-2012 are extraordinary - Hong Xu, Sayaka Shoji, Yu Kosuge and famous Swiss casalQuartett and chamber orchestra CHAARTS.  It's great that the program includes young artists, among them - wonderful cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan.

The program is delightful. It’s a fortune to listen to both concerts by Prokofiev and The Symphony of Psalms by Stravinsky, which have become the masterpieces of world music. It’s an excellent idea to play the great American composer Charles Ives, whose works are hardly ever performed in Russia.

It is unbelievable that in Voronezh, where I work since 1972, appeared a cultural event of such high level - first of all thanks to the support of the Governor. I admire the festival and wish all the best to the organizers and the festival inspirer Mikhail Bychkov.
