On January, 17th theatre and music programs of the second International Platonov Festival of Arts were announced at the press conference in the Festival Directorate. The Head of the festival Mikhail Bychkov, Alexandr Vislov, the famous theatre critic, member of the Board of the Platonov Award, expert of the Golden Mask Festival, and almost thirty journalists of the Voronezh mass media and federal channels took part in the conference.
The Second International Platonov Festival of Arts, named after the greatest Russian writer of the twentieth century Andrey Platonov, will take place in Voronezh, from 08th till 17th June 2012. It supports work in 4 fields: "Music," "Theatre", "Visual art" and "Literature." Although this year festival will be shorter, its program promises to be rather diverse and includes 30 performances and concerts.
First of all, the international geography of the festival is expanding: last year festival gathered participants from 8 countries, the 2nd festival will bring together 12 countries - Armenia, Georgia, Italy, China, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Ukraine, France, Switzerland and Japan.
Remarkable musicians will take part in the music program: the winner of the Stradivarius International Violin Competition Sergej Krylov, the leading Slovenian pianist in the field of contemporary music Bojan Gorišek, Chamber Orchestra CHAARTS and casalQuartett from Switzerland and also young musicians - the new generation of stars: the winner of the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition, cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan, pianist Hong Xu from China and musicians from Japan - violinist Sayaka Shoji and pianist Yu Kosuge.
In the theatre program the audience will have the chance to enjoy the legendary performances of the Tbilisi Marionette Theatre - "Battle of Stalingrad" and "Autumn of my springtime" created by outstanding contemporary artist Rezo Gabriadze and be the first spectators in Russia to watch "Miranda" by the Lithuanian Oskaras Koršunovas Theatre, "A Piece on Mother and the Fatherland" by the Polski Theatre in Wroclaw, "Happiness" by the Theatre on Pechersk from Kiev and 2 modern ballets of The Grenoble National Choreographic Centre - "The Rite of Spring" and "Daphnis and Chloe ".
Platonov program will be presented by 3 different versions of the Platonov's "The River Potudan" – productions by the Theatre on Pechersk from Kiev, Etude-Theatre of St. Petersburg and Voronezh Academic Drama Theatre named after A.Koltsov. Puppet Theatres from Omsk and Kirov will present two plays for children, based on the Platonov stories about the World War II - these performances will be shown not only in Voronezh, but in some regions as well.
One of the main venues of the festival this year will be a historical building of the Voronezh Drama Theatre, which after a long reconstruction will become the most modern and technically equipped theatre venue in Voronezh.
The number of public activities and events that take place outside the city will increase.
This year the Golden Mask Festival has become the new partner of the Platonov festival. The joint project "The best performances of the “Golden Mask Festival" in Voronezh" will present two performances of the Golden Mask winners - "Uncle Vanya" by the Moscow Vakhtangov Theatre and "Life and Fate" by MDT-Theatre of Europe, St. Petersburg.
Sale of tickets of the Platonov Festival of Arts will start on February, 15.
