New stories by the first laureate of the Platonov Award Boris Ekimov have been published in Voronezh magazine “Podjom”




The cycle of new stories by Boris Ekimov “Before the snow” have been published in October issue of “Podjom” - one of the oldest Russian literary and art magazine, that has been published in Voronezh since 1931.

This year Boris Ekimov became the first laureate of the Platonov Award in Literature and Arts that was established by the Voronezh regional government. A council was created for determining the laureate. Among its members there are choreographer, National Artist of Russia Vladimir Vasilyev, the writer Alexey Varlamov, Honored Artist of Russia Nikolay Simonov, the editor of magazine “Novoe literaturnoe obozrenie” Irina Prokhorova and other famous figures of Russian culture and art.

At the awarding ceremony June 15, 2011 Alexey Varlamov called Boris Ekimov “one of the best masters of the word today” and noted that Andrey Platonov and Boris Ekimov have common themes of land, family values ​​and “deep understanding of life”.

The second laureate of the annual award will be chosen next year, and the awarding ceremony will also be held within the International Platonov Festival period.
