The Old Man and the Sea

In the afternoon, journalists spoke with the Semyon director and actor. Ivailo Gandev and Dimitar Markov talked their attitude towards Andrei Platonov’s work, his popularity in Bulgaria and the difficulties they faced working on the play.

The second press conference? this time with the pianist David Fray, was dedicated to music.  

The conference hall of Voronezh State University hosted a lecture on Andrei Platonov. Natalia Kornienko presented results of her new study on Platonov and the 8th volume of Platonov’s Country of Philosophers.

At the festival art center Governor’s House the theatre critic Alla Shenderova gave a lecture on the creators of The Old Man and the Sea performance and this year Platonov Award winners - Alla Demidova and Anatoli Vasilyev. Big Fishies.

In the evening, French pianist David Frayperformed at the Philharmonic Hall accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Voronezh Concert Hall conducted by Yuri Androsov.

Semyon, a performance based on Andrei Platonov’s work, was shown at the Chamber Theatre. It was created by Ivailo Gandev, a director of the Bulgarian Drama Theatre named after Stefan Kirov.

Voronezh Concert Hall hosted a performance based on Ernest Hemingway’s novel The Old Man and the Sea. The play was presented by the Chekhov International Theatre Festival in cooperation with the Vakhtangov Theatre. Anatoli Vasilyev directed the stage masterpiece and the main and only role was played by Alla Demidova.

After the performance Anatoli Vasilyev and Alla Demidova received Platonov Award.
