Laureate of Platonov Award – writer Alexei Ivanov

Today there was a final meeting of the council by awarding Platonov award in the field of literature and art in the building of government of Voronezh region.       

The writer Aleksey Ivanov was chosen as the seventh laureate of Platonov award by majority of votes.

The prize was awarded to him for “discovery of secret mysteries of Russian history”.

Alexei Ivanov is a writer, screenwriter, author of popular books “Dorm-on-the-Blood”, “The Geographer Drank His Globe Away”, “Heart of Parma”, “Riot Gold”, “Community”, “Hate” and others. In 2016 the book “Tobol. Many are called”, in 2017 — “Debri”. Member of the Platonov Arts Festival in 2016.

A movie version of the book “The Geographer Drank His Globe Away” was shot, and the main role in it was played by Konstantin Khabensky. The premiere of the film took place at the Kinotavr Film Festival in Sochi, where the production received the main prize.  

The ceremony of The Platonov Award-2017 will be held on one of the days of the VII International Platonov Arts Festival.


Platonov Award in Literature and Art is awarded annually for the significant contribution to cultural heritage of the Russian Federation, for creation of outstanding works of literature, theatre, music, visual arts and for innovative development of humanistic and cultural traditions. Was established in 2011 by the Government of the Voronezh region.

The winner is determined by a Council, which is formed of figures of culture and art, representatives of public organizations and public authorities.

Chairman of the Council is the governor of the Voronezh region Alexey Gordeev.


2011 – a writer Boris Ekimov (“for sincerity, deep sense of modernity and Platonov’s traditions in description of life in Russia at the turn of ages “).

2012 – People’s Artist of Russia, artistic director of Maly Drama Theatre – Theatre of Europe Lev Dodin (“for preservation of the Russian repertory theatre traditions and outstanding performances in recent decades”).

2013 – an artistic director and chief conductor of the Russian National Orchestra, People’s Artist of Russia  Mikhail Pletnev  (“for the depth and harmony in interpretation of the world’s musical heritage”).

2014  – an animated cartoon designer Aleksandr Petrov (“for evocation of images of beauty and harmony of gorgeous and furious world”).

2015 – a writer Andrey Bitov (“for the esthetic loyalty to “the lonely human voice”  and dedication to “the common cause” of regaining Andrey Platonov’s legacy“).

2016 – a film director, Honored  Artist of the Russian Federation, People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Sokurov  (“for Platonov-like determination in grasping the theme of an individual in the foundation pit of history”).
