A monument to Samuil Marshak will be erected in Voronezh


In Karl Marx Street, nearby the house where Samuil Marshak lived, will be built a monument to the great poet, playwright and translator. The decision to memorialize our distinguish brother was passed by the Government of the Voronezh region.

In the Year of Literature, each Voronezh citizen can make their contribution to the popularization of Marshak’s heritage - for the monument erecting a crowd funding will be organized, everyone is welcomed to take part in the share. The Directorate of Platonov arts festival is responsible for this great work, all the details will be announced on our website later.

Samuil Marshak was born on November 3, 1887 in Voronezh. This autumn Voronezh will celebrate the 128th anniversary of his birth.  He is the author of many poems and stories, translations of Shakespeare's sonnets, songs and ballads of Robert Burns, works of William Blake, William Wordsworth, John Keats, Rudyard Kipling, Alan Milne, Jane Austen and others.
