Today, June 3, the V International Platonov Arts Festival has started. This year its participants are theatre companies, musicians, artists and writers from 24 countries including the CIS because Voronezh has become “the cultural capital of the CIS-2015”.

In the afternoon, the opening ceremony of art centre “Commune” in the ex-printery house took place. Within 11 days, anybody who wants to can see three exhibitions there – “Fear, Bread and Faith. Prototypes and plots of A.P. Platonov’s works in Russian chronicle photography of 1920-1930s”, “Sheer Enthusiasm of Life. Exhibition Hall at 8, Kirov Street opened an exposition “In Space with no Borders” - costume and set sketches, set design models by set designers of the former USS republics from the collection of A.A. Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum. Although created decades ago, costume and set sketches, set design models featured in the exposition, which is comprised of 146 art pieces, are treated not only as visual art objects by a contemporary viewer, but also as the originals that have preserved the images and messages of the performances from past. The works by such leading figures of stage as F. Fedorovsky, S. Nikolaev, V. Ryndin, A. Tyshler, M. Saryan, A. Petritsky, V. Meller, I. Gamrekeli, N. Akimov, S. Virsaladze are presented in Voronezh.

Pavel Filonov. "Images"

Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy opened an exhibition “Pavel Filonov. Art Worker. Paintings and graphics from the collection of the State Russian Museum”. The exposition includes 43 works by a remarkable artist, one of the leaders of avant-garde and the founder of analytical art.  Experts say that there is a link between the artistic principles of Pavel Filonov and Andey Platonov, a kinship in the mindset and understanding of art. Their paths never crossed, but each of them stands apart their colleagues and contemporaries and remains to be an unsolved mystery to the present day. Pavel Filonov is connected with Voronezh – as a young painter he worked on the interiors of the Olgino estate in Ramon.

Philharmonic Hall hold a concert of Olivier Patey and Alexei Ogrintchouk, the principal musicians of The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Amsterdam), in collaboration with Voronezh Academic Symphony Orchestra. In the program - Ottorino Respighi – “Pines of Rome”, Aaron Copland – Clarinet Concerto (commissioned by Benny Goodman) , Bohuslav Martinu – Concerto for Oboe and Small Orchestra, H. 353, Concert fantasy on the Vincenzo Bellini “Norma” themes for oboe, clarinet and symphony orchestra.
