Andrei Bitov – Laureate of Platonov Award 2015

On April 25 in the regional government headquarters was held the final meeting of the Council for the Platonov Award in literature and art under the chairmanship of Governor Alexey Gordeev. Members of the Council have chosen the laureate between 6 nominees, who in the Year of literature join the ranks of 5 writers and 1 musician.

 The winner of the award for «aesthetic loyalty to "Lone Voice of Man" and devotion to "common goal" of the return of Andrey Platonov’s legacy» has become writer Andrei Bitov. Council members voted for his candidacy almost unanimously.

 - Andrei Bitov is familiar to Russian readers of all generations - both '70s and '90s. Master of classics, a representative of the Russian literature, Andrei Bitov has its own manner of writing. What is very important is that this man is devoted to Platonov – said to reporters a member of the Council for the Platonov Award, literary historian, lead researcher of Andrey Platonov’s artistic legacy, and corresponding member of RAS Natalya Kornienko.

 The awarding ceremony will be held in Voronezh during the days of Platonov fifth festival - from 3 to 14 June.

Traditionally, the winner gets a diploma and monetary remuneration, but this year a memorable pin of Platonov Award’s laureate made of gold and rock crystal will also be added. Since 2015, at the initiative of the Governor Alexey Gordeev, the premium rate has increased from 500.000 to 1 million rubles.

In Platonov fifth festival edition will participate all the winners of Platonov Award: Andrei Bitov (2015), Alexandr Petrov (awarded in 2014), Mikhail Pletnev (2013), Lev Dodin (2012), Boris Ekimov (2011).
