June, 7 – Day 3 of Platonov Festival

The third day of Platonov Arts Festival was one of the most eventful and intense.  

 

In the morning Book Fair has started its 2nd day, young readers were enjoying classes and games at the children’s tent, the traditional festival literary event – Public Readings of Andrey Platonov’s prose has taken place at the open air stage. This year people of various age-groups and occupations have gathered to read novella “The Juvenile Sea”. More than 60 Voronezh residents (including the governor of Voronezh region Alexey Gordeev) as well as guests from Moscow and St. Petersburg have taken part in this event.

House of Journalists held two press conferences: first with World Music singers - Alim Qasimov (Azerbaijan), Marlene Dorcena (Haiti) and Mostar Sevdah Reunion band (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the second with Josef Nadj – director, choreographer, dancer, artist and the head of the National Choreography Centre of Orleans (France).

At the Theatre for Young Spectators Enrico Bonavera and Giorgio Bogiovanni continued their classes of Commedia Dell’Arte Laboratory, while in the park “Alye Parusa” Anton Adasinskiy and DEREVO team were rehearsing their project “Midnight balance”, which will be presented on June, 13 at the Festival night.

Theater program of the day comprised of 3 performances - the legendary piece of Josef Nadj “Woyzeck, or the hint of vertigo”, “May Night” production of Moscow Puppet Theater and OKT “Krapp’s Last Tape” starring Juozas Budraitis in one and only role.

Two festival exhibitions were opened today: “Things and Things that happened. Daniil Kharms and the people around him” in collaboration with the publishing house Vita Nova at the Voronezh Centre of Contemporary Art and “David Borovsky. Selected works” in collaboration with A.A. Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum in the exhibition hall on Kirova street.

 

Book club “Petrovskiy” was a venue for 2 literary events today – Denis Dragunsky, famous Russian writer, philologist, political expert took part in the meeting with readers and Elena Shubina together with Natalia Kornienko presented the unique book “Andrey Platonov. I have lived a life. Letters [1920 – 1950]”.

World Music program of the day was marked with a branch of wonderful concerts – Alim Qasimov & Fargana Qasimova bewitched the audience of the Philharmonic Hall with their magic singing, Marlene Dorcena turn on the happy crowd on Soviet Square and at the end of the festival day Mostar Sevdah Reunion gave their first concert in Russia at Voronezh Concert Hall, introducing to Voronezh listeners traditional Bosnian folk songs “sevdalinkas”.
