The Old Man and the Sea (1999 film by Alexander Petrov)
Platonov Arts and Literature Award ceremony-2014 has taken place in the Spartak cinema today. Alexander Petrov, a renowned Russian animator, has become the holder of the award for conveying the wonderful and harmonious images of “the beautiful and fierce world”.
The laureate was congratulated by Mikhail Bychkov, the head and artistic director of Platonov Arts festival, and Alexey Gordeev, the governor of the Voronezh region, who presented the artist with a certificate worth 500 thousand roubles.
The event was concluded with a run of Alexander Petrov’s animated films featuring his final course work “The Cow” (1989) based on the short story of the same name by Andrey Platonov, and “The Old Man and the Sea”, which won Oscar in 2000.
