Duo for a dancer and an excavator
Today the first Platonov Arts festival press-conference has taken place in the House of Journalists. Mikhail Bychkov, the head and artistic director of the festival, spoke about the free events program and the Platonov Award ceremony format. Anna Shurkhovetskaya, the director of Book club «Petrovskiy», and Daniil Bronyakin, the managing director of Prosveshchenie Digital company, also took part in the conference.
IV International Platonov Arts Festival will open at 6 p.m. on 5 June with “Duo for a Dancer and an Excavator” – a world-famous street show from France. The performance will be repeated at 8 p.m. on 5 June as well as at 6 p.m. 8 p.m. on 6 June.
At 2 p.m. on 12 June “Summer Dreams” parade featuring five street theatres from Russia and Europe: PAVANA, DERE VO, Teatr Biuro Podróży, Tall Brothers and Cardboardia will march along Prospect Revolutsii (Revolution Avenue).
After the parade the actors will give open-air performances in Soviet Square:

Within the festival Literature program from 10.00 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 6-8 the Book Fair, presenting over 90 publishing houses selling their books at exceptionally low prices, will be set in Soviet Square. On 7 June from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. the traditional public reading will take place. This year there are not only well-known politicians, businessmen and culture figures among its participants, but also those who have applied via internet. All of them will be reading “Juvenile Sea” by Andrey Platonov.
Besides, Soviet Square will become a venue for free concerts:
6 June, 7 p.m.– concert of Voronezh State Academic Russian Folk Choir

7 June, 7 p.m. – Marlene Dorcena’s concert (Haiti)
8 June, 6 p.m. – concert of Mostar Sevdah Reunion band (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
10 June, 7 p.m. and 11 June, 7:30 p.m. – concerts of Voronezh bands.
In the garden of the Chamber Theatre there will be the Festival Club, where the participants of Platonovfest can relax and chat.
Anna Shurkhovetskaya, the director of Book club «Petrovskiy», spoke about the ”Picnic” project running in parallel with Platonov festival. The “Picnic”, which will take place in Soviet Square on 10 - 12 June, includes a great variety of free events such as children’s exercises, yoga master-classes, sports and dance exhibition performances, writers’ lectures and many others. “Platonov Alley” will become the project centre, where artists will be creating art-objects based on Platonov’s works using a wide range of materials: plywood, wood, plastic and cardboard. The “Picnic” program will finish with a flash mob dance.
The Platonov Award ceremony will take place in “Spartak” cinema at 2 p.m. on 14 June. This year’s Platonov laureate is Aleksandr Petrov, an artist from Yaroslavl well-known for such animated films as “The Old man and the Sea”, “The Dream of a Ridiculous Man” as well as “The Cow”, based on Platonov’s short story. The Award ceremony will be held in the format of a creative meeting with a run of the remarkable artist’s films.
Daniil Bronyakin, the managing director of Prosveshchenie Digital IT-company, spoke about a specially designed “Platonov Festival” mobile application, which enables to familiarize oneself with the concerts and performances program, find the festival venue on the map of Voronezh, read the latest news about the major cultural event of the region as well as take pictures with the Platonov Festival logo and share them on social networking sites. The application functions on Android и iOS platforms and can be downloaded on Google Play and App Store.
