February 26th kicks off the sweeping Platonov Arts Festival ticket campaign: this day will go on sale 20 000 tickets for concerts, performances and other events of Platonovfest 2014!
The 4th festival edition ticket sales opening will be marked with a really special event – Platonov Arts Festival Pre-Party, the core of which will be the gig of the world famous British band MORCHEEBA!
Since the band foundation in 1995 Morcheeba sold millions of records worldwide and shares the title of the founders of “trip-hop” along with other well-known discoverers of the genre: Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky. The most groove-oriented act in the mid-'90s female-fronted electronica crowd, Morcheeba rely on the sweet, fluid vocals of Skye Edwards and a laid-back mix of fusion, funk, and blues produced by brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey on beats/scratches and guitar/keyboards. Interesting lyrics, combination of hip-hop, psychedelic rock and soul made Morcheeba one of the most recognizable and grooving British pop bands that has quite a lot of fans in Russia. The group produced eight albums since 1995, two of which reached the UK top ten.
After 7 years without Skye Morcheeba re-united in 2010 for their 7th studio album “Blood Like Lemonade”, so the current incarnation of the band is the ‘classic’ line-up comprising founding brothers Godfrey and singer Skye Edwards: this was the trio responsible for their first four, most commercially successful albums, from 1996’s Who Can You Trust? to 2002’s Charango.
The positive, healing aspect of Morcheeba's music one can easily feel in full effect on their 8th album “Head Up High” that was released on October 14th, 2013.
"We knew we wanted it to be more uptempo" says Skye, "we wanted to write some songs that could be played on the radio and add them to the live set to change it up a little. It feels like a positive step into the future for Morcheeba."
"We pushed ourselves to do lots of different kinds of things on this album," says Ross. "We experimented with areas of music we don't normally delve into; but at the same time it still feels like a comfortable sweater you put on, because we're really feeling at home working with each other."
“Head Up High” and their greatest hits Morcheeba will play for Voronezh fans on 26th February in Event-Hall.
